Born and raised in Jonesboro, Georgia, Teylor Parks is a dynamic multidisciplinary creative entrepreneur, producer, and wellness leader committed to using art, media, and storytelling to affirm people and strengthen communities. Her creative journey began in childhood, when she participated in local art camps and choral ensembles before graduating from Stilwell School of the Arts in Clayton County, Georgia. There, she explored a range of disciplines, including piano, music production, musical theatre, and vocal arts. In 2020, Teylor graduated from Florida A&M University with a Bachelor of Science in Interdisciplinary Studies, beginning a professional career in digital marketing that included roles and experiences with Eli Lilly & Company, Publicis Groupe, Mynd Matters Publishing, and Cumulus Media.
While working full-time in the early 2020s, Teylor founded Breathe in Color Co., as an e-commerce wellness brand offering handmade affirmation cards, journals, and crystal-wrapped jewelry. Born during the COVID-19 pandemic and amid the racial and women's justice movements of the 2020s, the company emerged from both personal experience and a growing desire to help others navigate anxiety, loneliness, and emotional hardship. As Teylor sought creative ways to support her own well-being, she envisioned a brand that could offer others tools for self-affirmation, self-expression, and connection. What began as a small product-based business soon grew into a larger vision: a community-centered space where people could explore art, experience wellness, and feel affirmed.
In 2023, Teylor and her longtime creative and business partner, Kosi Sumpter, a fellow Florida A&M University graduate and Atlanta native, opened the first Breathe in Color Studio in Tallahassee, Florida. Located near the historic campus of Florida A&M University, the studio became a gathering place for artists, entrepreneurs, and community members, hosting art and wellness classes, festivals, business expos, gallery exhibitions, music events, celebrations, and other creative experiences. What began as a personal response to a period of collective uncertainty had evolved into a growing creative community. The Breathe in Color renaissance had begun.
Teylor’s contributions to the Tallahassee community have earned recognition, including the Golden A.C.E. honor associated with the Tallahassee Network of Young Professionals’ Top 20 Under 40 recognition and a Woman on Fire nomination from Tallahassee Woman Magazine. In 2025, Teylor Parks and Kosi Sumpter’s creative impact received further recognition when their work was featured in Tallahassee’s City Hall Art Gallery through the City’s Art in Public Places program, managed by the Council on Culture & Arts (COCA). Their exhibition, Black Faces in Black Spaces, celebrated Black visibility, cultural expression, and community presence in a city whose history is deeply shaped by slavery and its lasting legacy. The exhibition reflected the cultural significance of Breathe in Color’s work and its commitment to creating spaces where Black artists and communities could see themselves represented, celebrated, and affirmed.
Today, Teylor’s entrepreneurial and artistic journey continues as she returns to her hometown region of Atlanta, Georgia, to expand Breathe in Color alongside her longtime creative partner, Kosi Sumpter. Building on the community-centered work they cultivated in Florida’s capital, Teylor envisions establishing a permanent Breathe in Color Studio in Atlanta—a home for creative wellness, artistic expression, media production, and community connection. Through this next chapter, she hopes to continue creating the kinds of spaces, stories, and experiences that remind people of their worth and demonstrate the power of art to bring communities together.
Her guiding philosophy is simple: We just affirm people.
